A world of logos

Just as promised by the poster, Logorama does indeed feature "spectacular car chases, an intense hostage crisis and wild animals rampaging through the city". It even features the end of the world. But all of this is not what makes this animated short film so unlike any other.

What does is that all of the characters in the film, as well as settin gs , and as a matter of fact just about everything are actually logos, brands and mascots.

From the police played by the Michelin Man, to the criminal played by Ronald McDonald, to the animals, the cars, the skyscrapers, the Earth itself, and even the Milky Way. There are all kinds of logos in this incredible world, most of them relatively well known: profit and nonprofit organizations, real estate firms and alimentary products, even political logos such as the Republican elephant. One may even spot fictional organizations: the logo of the company "Slurm" of Futurama fame makes a cameo appearance.

While this film is fictional, it does contain a certain amount of truth.

You may be surprised by the amount of logos featured in Logorama that you recognize. But in reality, there is nothing to be surprised of. Logos are everywhere. We are constantly surrounded by them. We see them, we are influenced by them, yet we don't think about them, because we are used to their presence. In order to comprehend the true influence of the logo on our society, try to actively look for them. Walk down a busy street, and look around you: every shop has a logo, and so does every car. Look around your house. Your television, your clock, mostly everything in your fridge and your fridge itself, as well as everything you wear and many more bears logos. As you are reading this, notice how your computer monitor sports a logo. So does your mouse, as well as your computer itself, your loudspeakers, or your headphones if you're using them. Once you become aware of the abundance of logos around us, the movie will make significantly more sense. In a certain way, we live in a world of logos and brands. Just like in the movie, they run the world.

And that is why, if you are the owner of a company, it is so important to have a harmonious logo which will reflect its identity. The logos presented in the movie, you remember them. And you remember the company thanks to them. Your logo is the face of your company, and just as you take care of your personal appearance, you must take care of its appearance as well.

I've seen this movie, it was pretty nice too.

It's true it has a deep meaning. It's really like everything runs on logos these days, they integrate themselves into our life! Good work with the article.

Thank you for the comment. We generally do not pay attention to this fact, but logos do leave a brand on our minds. For a designer, it is vital to think about each logo seen, and to think about their effectiveness, or uneffectiveness. This is how our art evolves.
